Disney has released the first teaser trailer for the new live-action ‘Winnie the Pooh’ movie CHRISTOPHER ROBIN. While not a remake per se, this movie is very much in line with Disney’s smash hit updates like BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE JUNGLE BOOK, and CINDERELLA as it brings a new iteration of the ‘Winnie the Pooh’ story to the big screen.
QUANTUM OF SOLACE filmmaker Marc Forster directs this new tale, which stars Ewan McGregor as the grown up iteration of the titular character who has “lost his way.” Now it’s up to his childhood friends to help him remember his past, loving self as Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and others venture into our world. Marc Forster is one of the few filmmakers working today that I have zero faith in, so I’m not particularly interested in this film despite Disney’s recent successes. The marketing campaign is going to have to a lot to convince me that it isn’t just HOOK with ‘Pooh’.
The film also stars Hayley Atwell as Christopher’s wife Evelyn, Bronte Carmichael as his daughter Madeline, and Mark Gatiss as Christopher’s boss Keith Winslow and features the voices of Jim Cummings as Winnie the Pooh; Chris O’Dowd as Tigger; Brad Garrett as Eeyore; Toby Jones as Owl; Nick Mohammed as Piglet; Peter Capaldi as Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo as Kanga. CHRISTOPHER ROBIN opens in theaters on August 3rd.
